How to Cook Rice

Rice Cooker Method

  • To begin, rinse your rice in cold water until the water runs clear and drain in a sieve.
  • Add your rinsed rice to your rice cooker and add in your water – for Long Grain Rice we recommend using 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water*
  • Set your rice cooker to cook.
  • Hot tip: Leave the rice in the rice cooker for additional 5 minutes once complete.
  • Lastly, fluff up your rice with a rice paddle or a fork, serve and enjoy!


*If you are using a different rice type you can refer to back of packet for the recommended rice to water ratio

Absorption Method

  • To begin, rinse your rice in cold water until the water runs clear and drain in a sieve.
  • Add your rinsed rice to your pot and add in your water – for Basmati Rice we will use 1 cup of rice, 2 cups of water*
  • Bring your water to a boil, then cover your pot and let it simmer for 10 minutes without stirring.
  • Hot tip: You should see no water and you’ll start to see large pits, like rice has been poked
  • Then, turn off the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Lastly, fluff up your rice with a rice paddle or a fork, serve and enjoy!

Boiling Method

  • To begin, rinse your rice in cold water until the water runs clear and drain in a sieve.
  • Add your rinsed rice to your pot and add in your water – for Brown Rice we will use 1 cup of rice, 6 cups of water*
  • Bring your water to a boil, stirring occasionally. Then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 25 minutes, covered, or until the rice grains are tender.
  • Taste the grains to make sure they are cooked through then drain through a sieve and it's ready to serve.
  • Hot tip: You should see no water and you’ll start to see large pits, like rice has been poked
